SynergyKM for 10.5

Got enough comments to inspire me to make a new version! Now uses 1.3.1 and is available here!!

Have good moshpitting!

UPDATE: Check this out !

I have rebuilt the SynergyKM package created by Lorenz Schori - Upgraded it for 10.5 xcode compatibility and modified the installer.  Next I will attempt to bring it to synergy 1.3.1  Here is the link : SynergyKM 1.0

Cheers!

Do you know if it is possible to enable/disable synergykm from applescript? I am using a connection manager and would like to automate the activate/deactivation of the synergy client on my macbook pro... I had looked at switching from synergykm to synergyc, however on 10.5 you cannot seem to run the client without the output console. any thoughts?

It would be difficult to get applescript to do that. I would recommend using something like this: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=2005010613401823 ( not sure if that would tie in to your existing connection manager ). You could try using --daemon to suppress the output of synergyc - or perhaps something like "synergyc > /dev/null 2>&1"

Did you ever successfully get SynergyKM to use Synergy 1.3.1?

Here's how to work that out...

There doesnt seem to be a load on startup option? Has this gone from your version?

Dom, if you set "Show Synergy status in the menu bar" it will load at startup... If that's not good enough, or you don't want an extra item loaded, I believe you can add /Library/PreferencePanes/SynergyKM.prefpane/Contents/Resources/Synergyd.app to your startup items. I haven't tested the startup items way tho...

I seem to have got it working in the end! The menu item was loaded at startup but it was greyed out and I had to start Synergy from it every time. Not sure what I did but after playing around a bit it started working!

Thanks for the new 1.3.1 update by the way. Just installed and seems to be working great.

Out of interest any body know how to fix a little problem I have? I use Final Cut daily but when doing a print to video/edit to tape the cursor will move from my Mac to the PC but I cant click or use the keyboard? However if I am capturing it is fine... its very odd but we use 3 set-ups and we have the same problem with all of them.

Sorry just one more thing! The preference pane doesn't seem to remember what option you have the menu item set to. So currently its enabled but if open the preference pane it is unchecked. If I then enable it and disable it again it will remove it.

Not a big issue but thought it was worth mentioning! Its always been the case with SynergyKM I think.

I am running server on laptop running XP Pro with Synergy 1.3.1. How do I map windows keys to mac keys.

A) Map Windows::Windows_Key -> Apple Command Key
B) Map Windows::Control_Key -> Apple Control key
C) Map Windows::Alt_Key -> Apple Options Key

Thanks

@earamsey, I am not entirely sure. The windows client should have a config file somewhere that you could manually add them to. ( I don't use a windows client :( ). This blogpost might help : http://skillfulness.blogspot.com/2008/02/proper-mapping-of-modifer-keys-for.html

I use the Mac as a server as I find it boots up 3 times as quick as my PC :)

On the server, select the client and select screen options. Then set:

Alt-Option = Command
Command = Alt-Option

Not sure about the other way around. Presumably just set the modifiers to be the reverse?

Just installed SynergyKM 1.3.1 on Mac and Synergy 1.3.1 on PC. When I get the Mac to be a server, the PC tries to connect as a client and is "forcefully ejected". The log file on the mac side suggests that
2010-02-18 14:40:42.678 Synergyd[17665:207] WARNING: a client with name "panda" is not in the map
2010-02-18 14:40:42.679 Synergyd[17665:207] NOTE: disconnecting client "panda"
2010-02-18 14:40:42.681 Synergyd[17665:207] NOTE: client "panda" has disconnected

What do I need to do to fix this?
Is there a place I should have looked to find an answer to this (an other config issues)?

Cheers
Peter
